MEET DAVID

David Curtiss, born on July 4th, 2002, is rapidly establishing himself as one of America's most promising competitive swimmers. Currently attending North Carolina State University, he has simultaneously represented the USA Swimming National Team and Team USA for four consecutive years. Curtiss has garnered global recognition in the swimming community with his impressive performances, earning multiple gold medals at Duel In The Pool, a silver medal at the World Juniors, and a bronze medal at the Short Course World Championships.

Aside from his accomplishments in the pool, Curtiss is also a member of #TeamTYR, an exclusive group of elite athletes that represents TYR, a renowned swimwear brand. With his exceptional abilities and unwavering dedication to the sport, Curtiss is swiftly emerging as a prominent figure in the world of competitive swimming and within the African American community alike.

David's Story

David Curtiss is a young American competitive swimmer born on July 4th, 2002. He has been swimming since the age of eight when he began his journey at the YMCA. As he grew older, he dedicated his time to a swim team and found a natural knack for the sport. Since then, he has become a rising star in the swimming world and African American community, being a part of the USA Swimming National Team and Team USA for four consecutive years.

Curtiss has an impressive track record of competing at national and international levels. He has participated in countless National level meets, including YMCA Nationals and USA Nationals, and has medaled at several high-profile events. Notably, at the 2019 World Junior Championships, he won the silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle, and in 2021, he set a new national high school record in the 50-yard freestyle for all high school swimming, public and private, in the United States.

In 2021, Curtiss made waves at the Olympic Team Trials, placing 6th overall in the 50-meter freestyle final. He was the only 18-year-old in the final and proved to be a fierce competitor. He also competed in multiple other international events, including the highly anticipated Duel In The Pool, where he received multiple gold medals and competed on the first-ever relay in the history of the sport, composed of both able-bodied and para-athletes.

Curtiss's passion for swimming extends beyond just competing. He strives to inspire others and works closely with sponsors such as TYRSport to promote his message that swimming is for everyone. He teaches lessons to give swimmers the skills they need to survive in the water and provides one-on-one lessons to veteran swimmers to help them succeed.
